Closing of a chapter

Stitching is one of the many parts of my life. As are my dogs. Four legged pampered kids! :_) They bring such joy to my life and many smiles. They have also quietly shared much sadness without question. Today we had to help our beloved "Chocolate Chip" (VERY aptly named as he adored chocolate!!) over Rainbow Bridge. My heart is breaking and his brother and sisters are missing him sorely, but he is out of pain and hopefolly trotting thru the fields and around the mountains that he loved to explore. I will miss you terribly sweet boy.....

My condolences too Leslie. It's SO hard when we have to do what you had to do, but it's also the ultimate kindness we can do for our 4-legged friends. I still tear up when I think of our beloved Annie the Elder and it's been many years. When that happens, I usually look down and find my buddy, Katie the Younger, begging for a hug.

Leslie it is the hardest thing, letting go. But how fortunate we are that we can help them that way! Find your favorite memory and hold onto that. When you are missing him it will also make you smile.
Big Hugs!!!

Oh Leslie,
I'm so sorry. One of the toughest most heart rendering choices is helping your baby take that first step to the other side of the rainbow bridge. Know that I am thinking of you and sending warm squishy hugs your way. My Maxxi is waiting to welcome him in boisterous painless romps!

Leslie, Oh, I know exactly what you are going through. I put my beloved Rottie, Scooter, down about 3 years ago. I still cry over him. I had to go get a new Rottie 3 days later to fill the void. Arwen has eased the pain over the years, and I tell her about her big brother all the time. When I was making the decision to let him go, I found a beautiful passage on the internet that I'd like to share with you.

"Euthanasia is a kindness extended to a treasured pet, a decision we make at a great cost to ourselves. It is a final act of love, nothing less."

Hope it helps.

Our pets are also friends; they still live in our heart long after.
You made the right thing, Leslie.
I had to do it several times and it wasn't easy but we have to stop their pain.

Thanks to EVERYONE who has so kindly left comments. He was a treasured friend and will always be remembered in our hearts. We are still very much "off balance" with his absence, but are trying our best to focus on his furry "brother and sisters" to help them thru as they are lost too. I deeply appreciate your sharing and kindness! Hugs...Leslie

Dear Leslie -- I am so very, very, sorry to hear of your loss -- my heart goes out to you. Having been there such a short time ago, I cry and ache with you. Happy Journey, Chocolate Chip -- and when you get a chance, look up our Chocolate Lab, Bailey, and tell her how much we miss her.

Leslie, I am very sorry to hear this. It's so sad to lose our pet we have lived together as family for years. We lost our dog just a year ago. Your Chocolate Chip, Jackie's Bailey and my Alice must be playing together in heaven. Hideko

Leslie,

I am so very sorry about your loss of your beloved dog. Chocolate Chip was so lucky to have you and your family and to know so much love in his life. May the memories of so many happy times bring you a little joy during this difficult time.
