Welllll, I belong to a ton of groups and get to hear a TON of chatter on stuff. My current ramblings are about what stitches are favorites and then the ever present problem of people that don't return blocks that go out in a round robin.
On the topic of "No Show" blocks, i've got to say, I cannot fathom those that take things that don't belong to them. It's just beyond me. I'm hoping if enough of us write about our feelings on the topic that we can exert some pressure on these folks to cough up our belongings! :) Sooooo, if you're reading this, PLEASE share your views! I personally think its important to make them be responsible for their actions....
Enough on THAT soap box....on to something LOTS more fun....my favorite stitches! One friend asked what ones we all favored in our group. Well, admittedly that got me thinking....and I don't really have just one! I LOVE to explore and find myself doing a lot of variations on them. The ones I typically use are the herringbone, fly, buttonhole, feather and pearl knot stitches. Heck....I am obviously REALLY slow, cuz it was just today that I actually figured out the differences between the fly stitch and the cretan!! LOL!!! Sharon B's, In a Minute Ago stitch index helped clear it up! I feel so silly cuz i've been stitching for YEARS.....oh well....guess its good to keep on learning! I would LOVE to hear what others think! What are your favs?

Leslie: I'm so sorry you're having problems w/blocks disappearing in a round robin. It's very difficult I know to deal with. I've only had it happen once and I DID finally get my blocks back eventually. I wish you the same.
I have to say that my favorite stitches seem to be the ones I'm working on at the moment, but I most favor the cretin stitch. I like to do it as a cretin on one side of the seam but with the other side in the herringbone style with open ends. And then I like to lay fly stitches with chain loops over the cretin side. Kind of hard perhaps to visualize; I'm sorry. I LOVE to try new combination stitches most of all.
I'm glad to see you getting back to your blog. I've been thinking on one for myself, but will hold off a bit until I'm done selling off the stash I think!
Hugs,
LouAnne
Herringbone, feather stitch, fly stitch, french knots, love doing detatched buttonhole stitch in thicker threads than the normal needlelace or stump work threads. Oh, and I do stem stitch and chain stitch too.
